Interview with Traci Dinwiddie

Traci Dinwiddie first appeared in the episode "Lazarus Rising" as a hunter friend of Bobby's. She also appeared in the episode "Heaven and Hell", still being as awesome as she was the first time! Traci is a wonderful lady who has kindly taken the time to talk to us.

General Questions

Your resume lists an impressive amount of skills including kung-fu, fire-dancing and mystical story-telling. How did you get involved in so many different activities?

Dare I guess...I think it's my Sagitarius moon and Taurus rising. I love artistic expression and adventurous, poetic activities. It's always been a natural thing for me to explore.

You're also a musician and have appeared on stage as Patsy Cline. Which do you prefer, music or acting?

I adore both and will enjoy them so long as I live!

What would be your ideal role?

A series regular role with enough time off to shoot a film or hit the stage for some theater! As for character, there is no such thing. Honestly, it's impossible for me to set the standards. That would cheat the experience. Each role is ideal as I work within it to find "her." It's like Christmas morning as I read a script for an audition. I'm gathering bits of her story, the underpinnings of her life. That is why I am an actress. There is no end or ideal to this artwork. I get to be a gypsy craftswoman living the lives of others.

Who would you most like to act alongside?

Daniel Day Lewis.
William Hurt.
Tilda Swinton.
Vanessa Redgrave.

You've recently finished filming "Seducing Spirits". What can you tell us about the film?

It's a "serial killer" thriller in which I play the lead, Detective Tischler. I don't know if that thing will ever be finished! It was more like a practice run for me.

What do you have lined up next, either on TV, screen or stage?

Well, it seems that I'll be returning to "Supernatural" as Pamela Barnes in the new year! I'm writing a few screenplays; however, that may take quite some time to finish.

If you could offer one piece of advice to an aspiring actor or actress, what would it be?

I have the pleasure of speaking with and writing to many aspiring actors and actresses. It's always a joy to encourage them to live a rich life above all else. Study everything and love, play, and work full heartedly. You must have genuine life experience to truthfully become someone in a story.

Supernatural Questions

How much were you told about your character, Pamela, when you got the role on Supernatural?

It was mentioned that they were looking for someone who could be a real badass without coming across as a jack ass. I knew she worshipped the Ramones. Kripke also mentioned that she was created from the essence of the Supernatural fandom.

When he told me that, I thought that was fascinating. Think about it, PB is like a kick-ass fan. She's loyal to her "band" and she flirts with the gusto of the SNF too! I've seen some of your wicked little comments about the J's and even our sweet Misha C. You're some unapologetic flirts!! Also, Pamela Barnes loves a good laugh, but will lock it down when business needs tending. She's serious AND cheeky. She's simply written that way. I just pull those bold parts of myself forward to become her.

Who is the Jesse that her tattoo refers to?

A big mistake! Great question. I think she jokes about that to hide something much more painful than she would ever admit. You would probably have to get her super drunk to talk about it, methinks.

The scene when you try to call forth Castiel was very dramatic. Was it difficult to film?

The scream had me a bit nervous, but we keep it pretty light hearted between takes, so it's not so tough.

Do you believe in the supernatural?

I believe in energy and it's vast vibrations and patterns. In other words, if I were vibrating at a different level...maybe I could be a phone call at 3pm tomorrow.... or a bolt of lightning or a cool breeze on the back of your neck right now!? I believe energy never "dies", it only transforms based on frequency.

Traci was kind enough to send a couple of exclusive pictures of her on the set of Supernatural. Please do not copy these pictures without permission.

Thank you very much to Traci for agreeing to this interview.
