When Jeremy was a young boy, his father hit him with a baseball bat, causing him to suffer from Charcot-Wilbrand syndrome - meaning he was unable to dream. He met Dr. Gregg who was doing a study and was given African Dream Root, which finally allowed him to dream again. However, when the doctor refused to provide any more, Jeremy found he could enter a person's dreams by using the Dream Root, and attacked Dr. Gregg. The doctor fell into a coma and never woke up, eventually dying. When Bobby started investigating the doctor's death, Jeremy entered Bobby's dreams to try and kill him too, albeit unsuccessfully. Eventually, he entered Dean's dream, attacking him, but without realising that Sam had entered the dream too. Sam managed to take control of the dream and conjured Jeremy's abusive father (who had died when Jeremy was 10). It is unknown what happened to Jeremy after Dean and Sam left the dream.
